Iranian Foreign Minister met with EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs

Iranian Foreign Minister met with Kaja Kallas the European Unions High Representative for Foreign Affairs in Doha on Thursday evening (September 4).

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi met with Kaja Kallas, the European Union's High Representative for Foreign Affairs, in Doha on Thursday evening. The two sides discussed the latest developments related to the Iranian nuclear file, particularly regarding the irresponsible and unjustified measures taken by the three European countries to reinstate the repealed UN Security Council resolutions, in addition to Iran’s mechanism of interaction with the International Atomic Energy Agency.

 While emphasizing the illegal and unjustified measures taken by the three European countries in this regard, our country’s Foreign Minister recalled the significant responsibility of the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs as the "Coordinator of the Joint Commission of the Nuclear Agreement," stating that it is expected that this institution fulfils its responsibility and neutralizes actions contrary to diplomacy in line with the nuclear agreement and Resolution 2231. Araghchi also pointed out the Islamic Republic of Iran’s continued commitment to the diplomatic path, affirming that Iran is serious and steadfast in its position.

 The EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs considered diplomacy and negotiation as the only way to address the concerns of all parties, stressing the need to provide more opportunities for diplomacy. During the meeting, it was agreed to continue consultations in the coming days and weeks.
