The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, had a telephone conversation with Belgian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Maxime Prévot, during which they discussed the latest developments in West Asia following the military aggression by the Zionist regime and the US against Iran, the Iranian nuclear issue, the continued attacks by the Zionist regime on Syria and Lebanon, and the escalating genocide in Gaza.
The Iranian foreign minister censured the military strikes by the Zionist regime and the US against Iran as a blatant violation of the UN Charter and international law, calling them a severe blow to diplomacy and the non-proliferation regime.
He criticized the inappropriate stance of certain European countries in supporting the aggressive actions and warned that such irresponsible behavior contributes to the normalization of lawlessness and the intensification of insecurity across the region and the world.
Araghchi also pointed to the ongoing genocide in Gaza, the inaction of the UN Security Council in the face of the Israeli regime’s horrific crimes against the Palestinian people, and its continued military aggression against Syria and Lebanon.
He stated that the Zionist regime’s impunity, enabled by military and political support from the US and some European countries, is the main driver of the current situation.
The Iranian foreign minister stressed the need for all countries to take responsibility in confronting the Zionist regime’s flagrant violations of international law.
The Belgian foreign minister, for his part, expressed concern over the consequences of recent developments and the escalation of conflict in the region, reaffirming Belgium’s position in support of diplomacy to resolve issues, including the Iranian nuclear file, through negotiation.
Prévot called for efforts by all parties to prevent further escalation in the region.
