Iran's Foreign Minister, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, held a telephone conversation this Tuesday afternoon with Kaja Kallas, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, regarding the latest regional developments following the military aggression of the Zionist regime and the United States against Iran. The Iranian Foreign Minister, while highlighting the consequences of the complacency shown by certain parties in the face of the Zionist regime’s illegal conduct and atrocities, underscored the responsibility of all states to unequivocally condemn the military aggression of Israel and the United States against Iran.He stressed that any statements that implicitly or indirectly justify the blatant violations of international law and the crimes perpetrated by the Zionist regime would be tantamount to complicity and participation in those crimes.Referring to the firm defense of Iran’s territorial integrity and national security by the Iranian people in the face of Israeli and American military aggression, Araghchi described the assault on Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities and the massacre of Iranian civilians as an unprecedented blow to diplomacy, the non-proliferation regime, and Security Council Resolution 2231. He affirmed that the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran stand fully prepared to defend the nation’s sovereignty against any acts of aggression.Araghchi further stated that with the cessation of the Zionist regime’s attacks, Iran also halted its defensive operations, thereby demonstrating its goodwill. He emphasized that, in stark contrast to the belligerent nature of the Zionist entity, the Islamic Republic of Iran has neither initiated war nor seeks its continuation. He also reiterated Iran’s fundamental distrust of the United States, asserting that the military assaults by Israel and the U.S. occurred at a time when Iran was engaged in diplomatic negotiations, and it was the United States that betrayed the process of dialogue and diplomacy.Criticizing the positions of certain European countries and the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in supporting the resolution adopted by the IAEA Board of Governors, as well as their failure to condemn the dangerous aggression against Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities, Araghchi warned that the continuation of this destructive posture by a handful of European states would only complicate the current situation and render the path of diplomacy more arduous.Kallas, for her part, emphasized in the call that there is no evidence indicating that Iran’s nuclear program is being expanded for the purpose of developing nuclear weapons. She also underlined the need for a diplomatic solution to the Iranian nuclear issue and expressed her support for ongoing efforts aimed at de-escalation and restoring stability to the region.
